The Devils lost a free-for-all shooting contest to the Senators last night, and while neither of these clubs are the Stars or Canucks, the goaltenders can at least hope to reign it in tomorrow. It wasn’t the first time Marty Brodeur let in five shots, but it is rare, and is proof of the Senators’ potent offense.

New Jersey’s gunners weren’t shy, either, though. They merely hit the target one less time than they needed to stay in it. At least one of the clubs will need to find their defensive game, and — no matter how obvious a statement this is — whichever team can minimize the other’s chances will gain the upper hand.

In the goaltending department, the edge still goes to Brodeur, if only because of his history. The Senators know how to score, though, and they look poised to make Marty look bad on their way to the Conference Finals. Tune in tomorrow night at 8p.m. on Versus to see how it all unfolds.
