It was close, but it finally got done.
The Islanders agreed with restricted free-agent forward Brock Nelson on a three-year, $7.5 million deal, carrying an annual salary-cap hit of $2.5 million. The deal came just before the franchise’s self-imposed deadline for free agents being signed before the start of training camp, which begins on Friday.
