The NHL has fined Islanders forward John Tavares $2,500, the maximium permitted, for slashing Zach Parise at 3:51 of the second period of yesterday’s 1-0 Devils victory at Nassau Coliseum

Parise said he was hit on the visor and on the face by Tavares’ stick on the unpenalized play.

Tavares was to be in the lineup for today’s rematch in Newark.
