Grand gestures of love don’t just happen in the movies.
After splitting with model gal pal Mara Teigen last month, Sabres winger Evander Kane channeled his inner rom-com hero by plastering her name and mug on one of the hottest billboards in Los Angeles in an attempt to win her back.
Spoiler alert: It worked.
“I was very flattered, I thought it was really sweet, really clever,” the Wilhelmina model tells TMZ. “He told me, ‘I have a surprise for you on Friday, and your hint is we’ll be taking a few laps.’ I was just thinking, ‘What could that be?'”
Despite Kane and Teigen both gleefully declaring their independence earlier this summer, it seems the Vancouver native’s “cute” tactic warranted a second chance with the blue-eyed beauty.
“We’re working things out, so we’ll see,” Teigen said.
