It appears Devils GM Lou Lamoriello’s draft weekend talks failed to convince Paul Martin to forego unrestricted free agency Thursday.
“No change,” was the word from Martin’s camp. Martin told The Post last week that he has decided to field other offers starting Thursday, while still giving the Devils top consideration to return next season.
Lamoriello was also hoping to re-sign Ilya Kovalchuk and Mike Mottau, both also slated to become unrestricted Thursday, and David Clarkson, who will be a restricted free agent.
