Pens Fall Short
Despite a third-period goal by Sidney Crosby, the Penguins couldn’t muster a comback against the Senators in Pittsburgh. Crosby’s goal cut the Ottawa lead in half with 5:20 left to play, but a three-goal explosion in the second period ensured the Sens’ victory.
Ottawa now leads the series 2-1 with one more game to play in Pittsburgh before the potentially series-deciding fifth game. If the Pens can’t level the series with their second home-ice game, the Senators will have a shot to eliminate them in Ottawa.
Despite the Penguins’ victory yesterday, the Senators have been in control for nearly the entire series. Their convincing 6-3 victory in game one, coupled with tonight’s win, does not bode well for the Pens’ playoff future.
