Brad Richards isn’t going anywhere.

The Rangers announced Friday that they would not be buying out the underperforming center, meaning he’ll be with the team for the 2013-14 season.

There was speculation that the Rangers would use their second and final compliance buyout to rid themselves of the final seven seasons of Richards’ deal with a salary cap hit of a little more than $6.67 million per season.

Richards had 11 goals and 23 assists in 46 regular-season game, but was awful in the playoffs, scoring just a single goal in 10 games. It got so bad that then-coach John Tortorella scratched him for the final two games of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Bruins.
