Black is beautiful and Sephora is making it easier to see why.
Periodically, the mega makeup retailer dishes out its favorite, bestselling products (that we love and write about monthly) with waitlist-inducing Favorites Kits. Most recently, Sephora is highlighting Black-owned beauty brands it believes in.
With the new Sephora Favorites Black-Owned Beauty Set, you’ll have a little of everything: makeup, skincare and hair products. Featuring some noteworthy names like Adwoa Beauty, FENTY Beauty and Pat McGrath Labs, you’ll want to give each product a shot.
“We recognize the importance of supporting our BIPOC founders and have done a lot of work across our entire organization to ensure brands have the support they need to succeed at Sephora,” Priya Venkatesh, SVP of Merchandising, Skincare and Hair at Sephora, told the Post. “Providing opportunities for BIPOC brands is long overdue and we take our responsibility in this work and the time it takes to successfully launch a brand seriously.”
What’s more, Sephora will donate $20 from the sale of each kit to the 15 Percent Pledge — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy organization “urging major retailers to commit 15 percent of their purchasing power to Black-owned businesses.”
“The 15 Percent Pledge seeks economic equality and prosperity for Black future founders, Black students, and Black people in the workforce,” Venkatesh adds. “Launched in 2020 by Aurora James, the initiative was born from seeing multiple acts of social injustice and police brutality in the United States—with a lack of accountability for the systemic issues at play.”
So, by purchasing the new Sephora Favorites Kit, you’ll be sprucing up your product pile with new additions and supporting a good mission. What’s not to love?
Sephora Favorites Black-Owned Beauty Set, $35

We had the pleasure of trying out the kit — something we certainly don’t take for granted — and it’s just the right assortment if you love trying new products.
The kit includes Adwoa Beauty’s Baomint Deep Conditioning Treatment (one of our favorite curly hair products), along with a full-size mascara from FENTY Beauty, a brand offering one of the best full-coverage foundations of 2021, after testing nearly 40 different ones.
“From hair masks, hair oils, skincare, lipstick and mascara, there is a great variety of hero products from these brands and something for everyone to try and enjoy,” Venkatesh said.
Additionally, it was great trying the Pat McGrath Labs’ lipstick (so creamy and matte!), along with other new brands I haven’t had a chance to swipe at Sephora.
What’s great about the kit is the hair treatment is sold at a higher value than the kit itself. Plus, the FENTY Beauty mascara is normally $24.
Here’s an overview of what’s included in the kit, as described by Sephora:
- Adwoa Beauty Baomint Deep Conditioning Treatment ($36): A treatment that penetrates into the hair shaft to moisturize and condition dry, parched, textured hair.
- Pat McGrath Labs ‘Omi’ MatteTrance Lipstick ($38): A richly pigmented lipstick that adorns the lips in a veil of lightweight color for a modern, matte finish.
- Shani Darden Skin Care Retinol Reform ($88): A retinol and lactic acid serum that improves the look of blemishes, dark spots and lines and wrinkles for glowing, youthful-looking skin.
- FENTY Beauty by Rihanna Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara ($24): A multipurpose mascara designed to expose every lash, featuring an exclusive flat-to-flat brush that instantly volumizes, lifts, lengthens and curls.
- Fenty Skin Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser ($25): A two-in-one cleanser and makeup remover that provides a “delicious deep clean you deserve,” along with a creamy lather that removes dirt, oil and longwear makeup without stripping the skin.
- Bread Beauty Supply Hair Oil Everyday Gloss ($24): A silicone-free oil blend for every day, multi-way use that’s delicately silk and enriched with kakadu plum for curls that feel glossy, soft and smooth.
- Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask ($38): A weekly, clinically tested mask that strengthens damaged hair and helps prevent future damage.
Doesn’t that all sound ah-maz-ing? And, with a $35 value, it so beats that impulse buys section on the Sephora line.
