AMAZING BUY WINS BUSANDA
Jockey Rich Migliore had issues with a headline in Sunday’s Post that read: “Mig denies scam involvement,” which ran over a story in which he recalled riding A One Rocket to win a Dec. 2003 race being investigated by feds. “People just read the headlines and the headline makes it sound I’ve got something to hide, and I don’t,” Mig said yesterday.
1ST RACE – Eventful trip for 5-2 co-favorite Parthenon, apprentice Eriluis Vaz up; broke behind field, advanced in traffic up backside, rallied wide around far turn, ducked inside to split horses top of lane, rallied to run down front-running Biscay Appeal mid-stretch, drifted out final furlong, couldn’t hold off late charge of Christmas Away. Winner, former stakes-class runner, was dropping from 20G to 7.5G making first start since finishing sixth, beaten 29 lengths, Oct. 17 at Delaware; saved ground early, sat chilly around far turn, tried to split horses rallying down stretch, got up under aggressive handling.
8TH RACE – Impressive stakes debut in Busanda for Paraneck Stable’s Amazing Buy, 3-year-old filly coming off 10 1/2-length maiden score. Favored at 2-5 in field of six while stretching out to two turns first time, 350G daughter of High Yield tracked pace set by Dancin on Broadway while well in hand, moved outside to challenge for lead turning for home, drew off under hand ride.
