FIFA president Sepp Blatter continues to push his 6+5 quota plan, which would limit to five players the number of foreign talent in a team’s starting XI, Reuters reports.
Personally, I think it’s a fantastic idea as long as a work-around can be found that doesn’t contravene free movement of workers rules. Blatter claims his plan would prevent a few rich clubs from monopolizing championships by preventing the amount of foreign talent they could buy.
Parity is sorely needed in the top European leagues where the same clubs dominate the title “race” season after season, with Inter winning the last three in Serie A and Man United the near perennial EPL winners, Madrid in Spain and so on… wouldn’t it be better to see less dynasty and have a pack of five or more teams truly vying for their league’s championship?
