Conor McGregor may have found his next challenger.
Manny Pacquiao has reached out to McGregor to begin talks about a potential fight, according to AFP. McGregor, who made his bones as a UFC champion, lost his boxing debut in a much-anticipated showdown with Floyd Mayweather in August and has not fought since.
“If we can negotiate it, I have no problem,” Pacquiao said. “It is OK with both of us.”
Pacquiao said he “initially” approached McGregor’s camp about a fight, but there have yet to be any follow-up talks. The former WBO welterweight champ has not fought since July and was elected to the Philippine Senate in 2016. His next match could come in April during a recess.
“It depends who they can finalize as my opponent by April,” Pacquiao said.
The 38-year-old Pacquiao first hinted at a fight with McGregor when he posted messages to the Irish star on Twitter and Instagram saying, “Happy Thanksgiving! Stay fit my friend. #realboxingmatch #2018 @thenotoriousmma.”
