The highly anticipated trilogy fight for the WBC heavyweight championship between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is now set for Oct. 9 in Las Vegas, Top Rank Boxing announced Thursday.

Last week, the fight was postponed from its originally scheduled July 24 date after Fury, the champion, along with several members of his camp, tested positive for COVID-19.

Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) and Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) have fought twice before. The first bout, which occurred in Dec. 2018, ended in a highly controversial draw, as the 32-year-old Fury failed to win despite registering a pair of knockdowns.

In the next clash, Fury left no doubt. Fury dominated the February 2020 bout, forcing the 35-year-old Wilder’s cornerman to throw in the towel after the seventh round. Neither boxer has fought since because of the pandemic.

“It was a crazy roller coaster toward this fight,” Fury said at a press conference in June. “I always say, you’re never fighting someone until you’re in the ring opposite them.”

The fight will undoubtedly be one of boxing’s biggest draws of the year. The second fight generated nearly $17 million at the gate, setting a Nevada state-record for a heavyweight title fight. It will be streaming on ESPN+ and Fox PPV.
