Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney continue to produce for Manchester United as they each supplied a goal to defeat Roma in the first leg of their Champions League match-up.

Winning over their Serie A opponents while on the trot bodes well for the Red Devils, who host the second leg at Old Trafford. Roma, vying for the league title in Italy, maintained the bulk of possession and managed more shots than United, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s side came up with better quality to solve goalkeeper Doni. Edwin van der Saar faced only one shot on goal despite Roma’s 15 attempts and 10 corners taken.
