Chris Childs underwent a half hour of arthroscopy on his right knee at Beth Israel North Hospital yesterday. The procedure, performed by Dr. Norman Scott, removed loose cartilage.

The surgery, however, was not on the knee that was hurting the Knick guard during the NBA Finals and limited his playing time. A Knicks spokesman said there was no status available on the status of Childs’ left knee.

Childs will begin rehabilitating his right knee today and is expected to be ready to play in four to six weeks. He should be 100 percent by training camp.
