We enter Day Four of the European Championship with a twin bill of Group D matches. In the day’s first game, Spain takes on Russia at 11:50 a.m. ET, followed by reigning Euro champs Greece playing Sweden at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Fans, particularly Italian ones, are still getting their heads around Monday’s crushing 3-0 loss against Holland.

One note on Italy’s loss: the absence of captain and defender Fabio Cannavaro really, really showed. Ruled out of the Euros by an ankle injury just last week, Cannavaro sat helplessly on the bench, powerless in preventing the Dutch from scoring over, and over and over again.

Remember, it was Cannavaro’s defensive brilliance that was the primary reason why the Italian backline conceded only two goals in the seven games during its World Cup triumph two years ago.
