St. Anthony’s typically has more talent and a deeper roster than almost any other team in the CHSFL, but those elements aren’t necessarily the key to why the defending AAA champions are so successful.

“They’re used to winning,” said Chaminade coach Bill Basel. “Their kids have a different mentality because of how well they’ve done in the past. The tradition that teams have to acquire, they’ve got it.”

Basel hopes that his fourth-seeded Flyers can put a dent in that tradition tomorrow when they face No. 1 St. Anthony’s tomorrow in a CHSFL AAA semifinal at 1 p.m. at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. Prediction: St. Anthony’s 28, Chaminade 16.

CHSFL AAA semifinals – No. 2 Farrell vs. No. 3 Holy Trinity, at Kings Point, tomorrow, 4 p.m. – Farrell barely got by HT the last time they met. Prediction: Farrell 21, Holy Trinity 14.

PSAL quarterfinals, today, noon. – No. 9 Lehman at No. 8 Clinton. Lehman routed Clinton last week. Prediction: Lehman 28, Clinton 12.

No. 10 Port Richmond at No. 7 Bayside: Port Richmond beat Bayside last week. Prediction: Port Richmond 22, Bayside 14.

No. 11 Fort Hamilton at No. 6 Wagner. Falcons will be in for a battle. Prediction: Wagner 36, Fort Hamilton 26.

No. 12 Grand St. at No. 5 South Shore. South Shore could be in for a challenge. Prediction: South Shore 30, Grand St. 22.

No. 13 Evander Childs at No. 4 Brooklyn Tech – Tech won’t be challenged. Prediction: Tech 38, Childs 20.

No. 14 Boys & Girls at No. 3 Tottenville: Defending champs have no trouble. Prediction: Tottenville 40, Boys & Girls 12.

No. 15 GW at No. 2 Kennedy: Kennedy can name the score in this mismatch created by the PSAL’s flawed playoff system. Prediction: Kennedy 42, GW 8.

No. 3 Kellenberg at No. 2 Moore Catholic, today, 1 p.m. Undefeated Moore looks to stay that way. Prediction: MC 20, Kellenberg 8.
