With $1.9 million on the line, the Breeders Crown aged events take center stage tonight at the Meadowlands.

Fools Goal, two-time defending champ, is the 5-2 favorite from post three in the featured $800,000 Open Trot. Trained by Hall of Famer Jimmy Doherty and driven by Jack Moiseyev, Fools Goal, at nine years of age, is the oldest competitor in the field.

“He’s like an older athlete,” said Doherty. “Some guys are done when they’re 35, and some are still pitching pretty good when they’re 40. He’s that type, like a Nolan Ryan.”

“It’s unbelievable that he’s stayed good that many years racing against these kind of horses,” said Moiseyev. “Jimmy did a real good job with him keeping him going.”

H P Paque, trained by Trond Smedshammer and driven by Brian Sears, is the 7-2 second choice from post two.

“He has a good post and he definitely has the talent,” said Sears.
