ABSTRACT:

OUTSIDE on the campus of Montclair State University, the blizzard rages. Indoors, it’s summer again, summer in black and white. Yogi Berra has just pulled off his mask and is squinting into the sun, trying to find a popup. Over there it’s autumn, autumn in black and white. Yogi’s jumping on Don Larsen.

At this display here it’s Sunday, Sunday in black and white. It must be Sunday because everybody is dressed for church. Lawrence Peter Berra is the youngest boy in the posed picture with his parents, three brothers, one sister……… Yogi’s feeling great and the Yankees look so much better for having him back in the family, an old grudge set aside, an old catcher forever young in the black and white world of pictures.

“Most of the time you have to be dead to have one of these,” he said of the museum. “I’m still living and I got one.”
