Chavaughn Lewis had 17 points, seven rebounds and 2-for-3 shooting from 3-point range to lead Marist over Saint Peter’s 64-57 last night in the opening round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament in Springfield, Mass. The Red Foxes (14-17) will face top seed Iona in the quarterfinals today.

Darius Conley had 19 points and 13 rebounds for ninth-seeded Saint Peter’s (5-26).

Niagara beat Canisius, 80-70 in the other opener and will face second seed Loyola (Md.) today.

Harvard 77, Columbia 70 (OT)

In Manhattan, Kyle Casey scored 19 points to lead Harvard (25-4, 11-2 Ivy League) over Columbia (14-15, 3-10).

Brian Barbour led the Lions with 23 points.

Harvard led 34-30 at halftime, but Columbia tied it at 62-all on two late layups by Mark Cisco (12 points). In overtime, Casey quickly hit a jumper, fed Laurent Rivard for a 3 and hit a trey himself for a 70-64 lead.

Princeton 64, Yale 57

In Princeton, Ian Hummer scored 18 points and T.J. Bray added 10 for the Tigers (17-11, 8-4 Ivy League), who beat Yale (19-8, 9-4) for their sixth win in seven games.

Georgia St. 85, Hofstra 50

In Richmond, Va., Eric Buckner tallied a double-double, with 21 points and 11 rebounds, to lead Georgia State (21-10) in a rout of Hofstra (10-22) in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

Mike Moore led the Pride with 16 points.

Notre Dame 75, Providence 69

In South Bend, Ind., Jack Cooley scored a career-high 27 points and had 17 rebounds as No. 20 Notre Dame (21-10, 13-5 Big East) beat Providence (15-16, 4-14) to wrap up the No. 3 seed and a double bye in next week’s conference tournament.

Murray St. 78, Tenn. Tech 58

In Nashville, Tenn., Donte Poole scored 25 points, and No. 12 Murray State (29-1) routed Tennessee Tech (19-13) in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament semifinals. The Racers will play Tennessee State, a 59-52 winner over Morehead State in the other semi, in the championship today trying to add a 15th overall tourney title to their regular-season title.

Creighton 68, Drake 61

In St. Louis, Doug McDermott scored 26 points and Antoine Young added 16 points to lift No. 25 Creighton (26-5) over Drake (17-15) in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

Wichita St. 72, Indiana St. 48

In St. Louis, Toure Murry and Joe Ragland scored 14 points each and Garrett Stutz had 12 rebounds to lead No. 15 Wichita State (27-4) over Indiana State in the MVC quarterfinals.
