METS, MSG TURN TO O’BRIEN
With Gary Thorne out and Sean McDonough having last week decided to stay in Boston, the Mets and TV rights holder MSG Network have turned their attention to ESPN’s Dave O’Brien as their new TV play-by-play man, The Post has learned.
O’Brien, 39, met Friday with Mets and/or MSG officials. He joined ESPN’s baseball team last season to work between Tony Gwynn and Rick Sutcliffe after eight years in the Marlins’ booth as the club’s original TV voice. He also calls college football and basketball for ESPN/ABC.
Both O’Brien and McDonough are from Boston, and both graduated from Syracuse.
