Pat Sullivan, a Pistons assistant under Larry Brown last season, officially was named to Lawrence Frank’s Nets staff yesterday. Additionally, the Nets hired Bob Thate as their full-time shooting coach.

Sullivan, a native of Bogota, N.J., was on the Pistons’ bench with Brown last season serving as Detroit’s assistant coach/video coordinator. Sullivan, who played in three Final Fours at North Carolina, completes the Nets’ staff, joining Gordie Chiesa, Bill Cartwright and Tom Barrise.

Thate last year served as the team’s shooting coach on a part-time basis. He played at Occidental College, where he set the school’s single-season scoring record in 1969-70.
