NETS WAIVE RONY
NBA NOTES
The Nets simply grew tired of waiting, and yesterday waived veteran center Rony Seikaly, who had played in just 18 games over two seasons since the Nets acquired him in a Feb. 19, 1997 trade
The 6-foot-11 Seikaly, whom the Nets hoped would supply the low-post scoring they so desperately sought, played just 88 minutes last season. He missed four games with a sprained ankle and 34 with inflammation in his right arch.
Seikaly recently scored 36 points with 16 rebounds for the Lebanon National Team in the Asian Championship qualifying round.
The waiving of Seikaly tilts the Nets very heavily toward re-signing free agent Gheorghe Muresan, who played limited but encouraging minutes in the Pro Summer League in Boston over the weekend.
