ABSTRACT
There are times when your golf game doesn’t coincide with the quality of the course you’re playing, and it’s a damn shame.
This was my sin this past week as I toured the new (and worth-playing) Pine Barrens Golf Club in New Jersey. The course was terrific and I was pathetic.
Pine Barrens is a treat of a new facility located in Jackson, N.J., less than 90 minutes south of Manhattan. It’s one of the top upscale public-access courses in the area, checking in at a daunting 7,118 yards and a 74.2 rating from the back (black) tees, 6,781 yards and 72.6 from the blue tees, 6,324 yards and 70.6 from the whites and 5,209 and 70.2 from the women’s tees.
