Jason Kidd must run. Then stop. Then start. Once he does those things, only then the Nets can begin thinking in terms of when he’ll return from left knee surgery. While multiple sources have pegged Kidd’s return to December, Nets CEO Rod Thorn said he wouldn’t even try to pinpoint a timetable.

“Until he gets into the real nuts and bolts of the rehab where he’s doing real basketball-type things, I don’t think you could,” Thorn said. “The last doctor’s report that we got is, he feels good.”

But when asked to predict the chances of Kidd’s availability for opening night, Thorn said “I couldn’t at this time . . .”
