SARATOGA SPRINGS – There’s not much you can buy for 10 cents these days. Maybe a piece of bubblegum in a gumball machine, if they still exist.
But at the track, for a dime you can bet a superfecta – that’s picking the first four finishers in order – on almost any race. And if you were lucky enough to have bet 10 cents on the winning superfecta in Wednesday’s eighth race at Saratoga, the Lake George Stakes, you would have collected – no kidding! – $15,150.70.
The first four finishers – Pefect Shirl, Exclusive Love, No Explaining and Khancord Kid – were all long shots, going off at odds of 9-1, 57-1, 16-1 and 27-1, respectively.
Winning $15 grand by investing a dime … where else can you get a deal like that?
