This week NYP TV Sports’ Andrew Marchand spoke with ESPN basketball analyst Jay Bilas. Bilas, 42, will be an analyst on ESPN’s NBA draft coverage Wednesday.

Q: Are the Bulls, with the No. 2 pick, going to get a better prospect than the Knicks have in Eddy Curry? [The Knicks traded the No. 2 pick for Curry last year.] A: I think so. He won’t be as big. They might take [LSU’s] Tyrus Thomas at the No. 2 spot if he is there. He might be taken No.

1 by Toronto. Tyrus Thomas probably has the most potential to be a great player in this draft.

There are other guys who are probably better right now. You have to wait on him a little bit.

Q: When you look at the Knicks at No. 20, who could they get?

A: There are several really good players. I’ve heard people say that at 20 they could maybe take [forward] Shawne Williams from Memphis. He has an awful lot of ability. He is a decent athlete, but not a great one. He is very smooth and has a good skill level. He has a real chance to be a very good player, but he has to become more prideful to be really good.

Q: Who is the guy you love who might be undervalued, and who is the guy you think is overrated?

A: Undervalued would probably be a guy like Randy Foye from Villanova. He might be a little bit small [listed at 6-foot4] for a two-guard, but he is a guy I think can bring the ball up and run a little bit of point at least to initiate offense. He is a very capable scorer, and he is unbelievably strong.

Overvalued? Maybe Mardy Collins from Temple. I’ve seen people put him into a lottery position, and I don’t particularly see him as that. He is a big, strong guard, but I don’t think he is quite the athlete he has been made out to be, and he is not a very consistent shooter. But he does have ability.

Q: Italian center/forward Andrea Bargnani could go No. 1 to Toronto. What do you think of him? Is he a Dirk Nowitzki?

A: He is really a good shooter.

At 7-feet tall, he can step away and knock shots down on the perimeter. He is not a driver. I think he projects more as a four.

The one difference between he and Dirk Nowitzki that I have not heard talked about much . . . is (Bargnani) doesn’t get to the freethrow line.

Q: Where do you think Duke’s J.J. Redick will go?

A: Top 14 for sure. I don’t think he’ll get past Utah. He could go at No. 8 to Houston. That is a really good fit for him because they have two guys who demand double teams in Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.
