Jordan Spieth: Sure, he hasn’t won in more than a year and has struggled at times this season, but Spieth has performed well in the Masters and British Open, having had a chance to win both. Look for him to put it all together this week and complete the career Grand Slam.

Dustin Johnson: The golf course will play long, with soft fairways and slow greens. Johnson, who won the Canadian Open two weeks ago, is as long as anyone off the tee and in good form. This all plays into his hands.

Rory McIlroy: McIlroy, who like DJ is blessed with great length off the tee, has had his best major championship success on wet courses that play slow. This, too, plays into his hands.

Tony Finau: Another long bomber off the tee who has been making nice progression toward a big victory. He finished tied for ninth at the British Open and tied for 10th last week in Akron, Ohio. It could be his time.

Rickie Fowler: No one in the field is in need of a major more than Fowler, who’s done everything but win one. Could this be the week? He’s sneaky long for his size (5-foot-9). Question will be how good his putting is.
