Former cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek continued his transition to heavyweight with a hard-fought unanimous decision over Jason Estrada last night in Newark.
Adamek, a native Pole who fights out of Jersey City, won by scores of 118-110, 116-112, 115-113 in front of 10,123 fans — many of them clad in Poland’s red and white — to set up a potential showdown with Los Angeles-based heavyweight contender Chris Arreola in April.
Adamek, who at a bulked-up 220 pounds was still surrendering nearly 20 pounds to Estrada, was the busier fighter, and improved to 40-1 with 27 knockouts.
