Coaches and execs in every sport, from Pop Warner to Little League, from the NFL to the NBA, claim all their players get treated the same and play by the same rules. They all lie. Except Flemengo director Marcos Braz, who admits Adriano is worth “a sea of money” and trains whenever he damn well wants.
“Adriano has the right to be treated in a different way, and if he decides not to train then he doesn’t train. That’s it,” Braz was quoted as saying. “Adriano is worth a sea of money and what he guarantees the club in terms of image and, above all, finances gives him the right to be treated in a different way with respect to all the other players.”
It’s good to be the king…
Adriano led Flamengo to Brazil’s Serie A last season as the league Player of the Year and top scorer. But the star striker’s diva behavior has reportedly caused a rift in the locker room.
From Braz’ comments, the cats on the non-Adriano side of that rift better get in line or get out. Sounds like the man has his mind on his money and his money on his mind….
