ARDMORE, Pa. — Oklahoma State golfers dominated the 42nd Walker Cup both yesterday and Saturday, going a combined 10-0-1 to pick up 10½ points for the United States as it beat Great Britain and Ireland, 16½-9½, at Merion Country Club.

Sophomores Peter Uihlein (4-0-0) and Morgan Hoffman (2-0-1), along with junior Rickie Fowler (4-0-0), did almost all of the heavy lifting for the US. When Uihlein finished off Englishman Stiggy Hodgson on the 15th hole yesterday, 3 and 1, it locked up the necessary 13 points for the US to retain the Cup, and took its record to 34-7-1 in the amateur version of the Ryder Cup that dates back to 1922.

“I’m definitely having a great time,” said Uihlein, one of the last two selections to the team after his strong summer that included a quarterfinal run in the U.S. Amateur at Southern Hills C.C. “You want to play well for your teammates, and I’m just happy to be contributing.”
