You’ve got to hand it to New York City’s Finest. A couple of men in blue were patrolling the corner of Park Avenue and 56th Monday for the President’s latest fund-raising trip to the Big Apple.

When asked by bystanders if the police barricades were up for a parade, one officer quipped, ‘It’s the One-Man Parade.’ The bystander looked confused. “It’s the Barack Obama Parade. Get out your checkbook.”

“You know,” said the bystander, wearing a Yankees jersey, “maybe he can give the Yankees some money for a closer.”

Just then a motorcade sped by. It was unclear if one of the limos was carrying the president, but the Yankees fan shouted, “Mr. President, the Yankees need a bailout.”

Another bystander quipped, “The Yankees are the General Motors of baseball. They don’t need a bailout.”

Obama was attending a fundraiser Monday night at the New Amsterdam Theater and held another at the Waldorf Astoria where he said electing Mitt Romney president would be calamitous for the country. He made no mention of a bailout for the Yankees.
