Barbaro was reported to be “in stable condition with good vital signs” yesterday at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa., according to Dr. Dean Richardson, chief of surgery.
“Barbaro spends several hours a day in a sling [to help support his injured hind legs], which he has adapted to very well,” Richardson said. “We have a lot of experience in using slings for equine support. In Barbaro’s case, it is a part-time aid that we use to increase his comfort level.”
Barbaro’s assistant trainer, Peter Brette, paid the colt a visit yesterday afternoon and said he “looked fine, was standing all square and certainly not in distress,” according to an update on timwoolleyracing.com.
