North Carolina-Greensboro had been interested in Brian Beckford since the beginning of his senior year. Yesterday the Spartans finally got their man.

The 6-6 senior forward verbally committed to the school after taking an official visit two weeks ago.

“It’s a perfect fit for him,” Christ the King head coach Bob Oliva said of Beckford, who was named to the Post’s All-CHSAA third team this year after averaging 10 points and eight rebounds per game.

Beckford selected Greensboro over St. Peter’s.

JFK’s Niki Avery signed with UTEP yesterday after leading the Lady Knights with 21 ppg and six assists.
