According to two league GMs, the Blazers have counter-offered the Knicks by asking for Latrell Sprewell and unsigned Kurt Thomas in a sign-and-trade for power forward Brian Grant.

Mark Bartlestein, Grant’s agent, denied such a trade was discussed. “It’s erroneous,” said Bartlestein, who has to consent to the transaction as does Thomas. “They’re not going to talk about things like that until Brian finishes his trip to New York.”

The Blazers have already rejected a couple of Knick offers featuring Marcus Camby.
