It will be a well-deserved night off for Bob Costas.

The NBC Olympics host has been battling through a gnarly case of pink eye that spread from his left eye to his right eye. He announced on the “Today” show that he’d take Tuesday night off from hosting “Olympic Late Night” because of the condition. Matt Lauer will fill in.

“Reluctantly, I was trying to throw a complete game here, but I think we’re going to have to go to the bullpen, and I don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but you’re Mariano Rivera, at least tonight,” Costas told Lauer in a phone interview.

“Let’s hope it’s only tonight. I’m walking around, I might as well be playing ‘Marco Polo.’ I have no idea where I am.”

Monday night, he decided to drown his sorrows with a shot of vodka alongside Mary Carillo saying, “My eyes can’t get any redder, no matter what I do.”
