The Yankees beat Pedro Martinez and the Red Sox once again, but despite the hype surrounding Martinez’ claim that the Yankees were his “Daddy,” George Steinbrenner refused to put down the once-dominant righthander.

“He pitched a good game,” Steinbrenner said as he left the Stadium last night following the team’s 3-1 victory in Game 2 of the ALCS to take a 2-0 series lead.

Rather than revel in his team’s success as it heads to Boston, the Boss chose to quietly exit The Bronx.

He responded to a fan who said that the Yankees were going to clinch this weekend at Fenway Park by saying, “I hope you’re right.”
