The top two teams in the Post’s New York City boys basketball rankings were in action Saturday at the Cancer Research Classic at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia. And both No. 1 Rice and No. 2 Christ the King left the Mountain State with losses.

The Royals, which beat Boys & Girls Wednesday night to win the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic, fell to Neumann-Goretti (Pa.), 73-65. Christ the King (5-1) was led by forward Maurice Barrow, who had 15 points.

“We were a little worn down from the traveling and I think that made us came out flat,” Christ the King coach Joe Arbitello said. “We had some tired legs, but they were very good. They start four Division I players.”

Rice, which beat Kinston (NC) to claim the Glaxo-Smith-Kline Holiday Invitational championship Wednesday, fell to 13th-ranked Gonzaga (DC), 67-55. The Raiders fell to 7-2.
