Brewers reliever John Axford is trying to save his reputation after comparing Tim Tebow to the Kardashians.

“Tim Tebow has become a Kardashian of professional sports,” Axford tweeted on Friday.

The relief pitcher immediately came under fire, comparing the beloved Jets quarterback to arguably the most famous family in reality television. Minutes after he posted the comment to his Twitter account, Axford backtracked and clarified his statement.

“And I wasn’t referring to talent with that Kardashian analogy,” Axford tweeted. “Tebow has more talent in his pinky finger than Kim has in her entire family.

“I simply meant media attention with, what seems to be, every time they do something.”

Axford, who converted 49 consecutive save opportunities between 2011-12, has blown five of his past 11 save chances and has a career-high 4.68 ERA in 44 appearances this season. He recently lost his closing job to former Mets reliever Francisco Rodriguez.
