Brittany Lincicome has played some pretty good golf in her last two trips to New Jersey, winning the Hamilton Farm at Gladstone and shooting an 8-under 64 in the opening round of the Sybase Classic yesterday at the Upper Montclair Country Club. But the born-and-bred Floridian is no Jersey Girl.
“I like driving here,” Lincicome said yesterday, “but that’s about it.”
True, she was killing the ball yesterday. One of the Tour’s longest drivers, she finished the opening round two stokes behind Helen Alfredsson after six birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole, where she chipped in from 17 yards.
“Yeah, you can speed, you don’t have to use a blinker,” said Lincicome, who drives a truck back in Seminole. “There’s no cops _ knock on wood.”
Oh, wait…you mean THAT kind of driving?
“I like fishing, being on the water,” said the 23-year-old Lincicome. “I’m a Florida girl.”
Don’t know if she brought her ride up here. But if you’re leaning back, cruising around Upper Montclair or Clifton in the next few days, and you see a 5-foot-10 blonde in a Lincoln SUV cut you off and pull away, it just might be one of the world’s best golfers.
