Two former Seton Hall University basketball players have been indicted on charges stemming from an armed robbery in northern New Jersey.

Prosecutor Robert Laurino said Friday that an Essex County grand jury returned a 29-count indictment against 27-year-old Kelly Whitney of Chicago and 23-year-old Robert Mitchell of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Prosecutors say the pair robbed eight people at gunpoint in a South Orange home in March.

If convicted on all counts, each could be sentenced to more than 30 years in prison.

Both have entered not guilty pleas. They remain incarcerated.

Whitney played for the Pirates from 2002 to 2006. Mitchell played this past season, but was kicked off the team by coach Bobby Gonzalez, who has since been fired.
