With the first full week of preseason games set to kick off Thursday night, Plaxico Burress is lowering his asking price.

The former Jets and Giants receiver is now willing to accept the veteran’s minimum ($925,000) from a team, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report. After his release from prison last year, Burress got $3 million guaranteed contract from the Jets. But he has found no one willing to meet this season’s asking price after a so-so season in New York.

Burress has said his top choice is the Eagles, but that feeling does not appear to be mutual. He has been rumored to have interest from the Steelers, who he started his career with.

How long Steelers top receiver Mike Wallace, who is looking for a new contract, decides to hold out could determine whether Pittsburgh takes a chance on Burress.
