Appearing on MetroChannel’s Game Face, Met reliever Turk Wendell was asked by an in-studio Met fan about the prospect of a Subway World Series.

“It would be great for baseball,” Wendell said. “But I don’t think it’s going to happen. This just isn’t the Yankees’ year.”

He wasn’t smiling when he said it, but Yankee reliever Jeff Nelson was when the remark was repeated to him.

“He said that?” Nelson asked. “That’s pretty funny.”
