On Monday, the Christ the King senior guard was named most valuable player of CHSAA Class AA by the league’s coaches. The UConn-bound star just surpassed Khalid Reeves to become No. 1 on Christ the King’s all-time scoring list Friday night in a win over Burke Catholic. The top-seeded Royals meet No. 5 Bishop Loughlin in the CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens semifinals 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Prep.
Holy Cross coach Paul Gilvary was named Coach of the Year by league coaches Monday. The 27th-year head man has guided the Knights to a 20-4 record despite being without star player Marquise Moore almost half the regular season. No. 2 Holy Cross takes on third-seeded Xaverian in the CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens semifinals 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Prep.
