Cardozo combo guard Shelton Mickell has verbally committed to Central Connecticut State, The Post has learned.
The senior guard picked the NEC school, Cardozo coach Ron Naclerio said, over offers from Marist, St. Francis College and Niagara. St. Bonaventure and Arkansas-Little Rock were also involved.
“I’m happy for the kid, he deserves it,” Naclerio said. “It’s a good place for him. There is a chance for him to get significant minutes as a freshman and as a sophomore he can be a big part of the program.”
The dynamic 6-foot-2 scorer broke out as a senior, leading Cardozo to an undefeated year in Queens, its second straight borough title and the PSAL Class AA semifinals by averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game.
