Some Red Bull notes for you cats to chew on.

Right back Carlos Johnson said he’ll get examined in two weeks, and if his broken foot has healed properly, he hopes to start running. From that point, he expects it to be another 2-3 weeks before he returns to practice.

Left back Alfredo Pacheco got called up to El Salvador’s National Team for the Gold Cup. They actually wanted him to come in Monday _ yes, THIS Monday _ even though the tournament doesn’t start until July 3. I’m figuring the odds of that are the same as Metro signing Kaka.

Since they’ve got road games at Toronto and Columbus next week, and Monday isn’t a FIFA date, Red Bull doesn’t have to let him go until mandated by FIFA. And remember all the hell they had with El Salvador’s federation over Pacheco’s transfer? I’m just feeling this could be ugly….

And you’ve been hearing how playing on turf has been wearing down the Red Bulls, especially the awful turf at Giants Stadium. The good news is they’ll practice Monday and Tuesday on Big Blue’s natural grass field. That got the biggest smile I’ve seen from JUan Pablo Angel all year. But just how bad is the turf in the stadium?

“I just don’t know how you play on that surface. I mean, it’s a shame. I’ve heard it was bad but I didn’t believe it was this bad. It’s a shame. I just don’t know how you play a good game on this surface,” said Seattle GK Kasey Keller, a veteran of 18 pro seasons. “It will only get better when they get into their new stadium and you can actually play there.”

So, basically this surface is garbage…..

That’s all for now, guys. Share your thoughts below about the 1-1 tie with Seattle, the turf, El Salvador’s outrageous request, or all things Metro…..
