KNICK NOTES

The Knicks yesterday continued to fill out their roster after losing four players last Thursday at the trading deadline.

CBA guard Jermaine Jackson, playing for the Great Lakes Storm, was inked to a 10-day deal yesterday. Jackson was a teammate of Jackie Butler, the 19-year-old center the Knicks signed Sunday.

Jackson, a point guard, was averaging 20.8 points and 11.8 assists. He played with Detroit, Toronto and Atlanta in 84 career NBA games.

The Knicks were down to just 11 healthy bodies after Nazr Mohammed, Jamison Brewer, Vin Baker and Moochie Norris were shipped. Only Mohammed was in the rotation. But the Knicks needed extra bodies for practice. Teams are allowed to carry 15 players – 12 active, three on the injured list. The Knicks now have 14 after Jackson’s signing.

“He’s a solid player, tough, knows how to run a team,” coach Herb Williams said. “He’s a pretty solid player. I think his presence will be felt but not right away.”

Even though San Antonio was to waive Brewer, the Knicks did not want him back. Brewer was signed last summer – a defensive specialist who is an awful shooter, even for a point guard. Brewer could wind up back in Indiana, where Isiah Thomas knew of him.

Williams on mood of team after two straight victories entering last night’s Lakers match: “Any time you win, guys feel a lot better about themselves. Last game, they were a lot more enthusiastic.”

Jamal Crawford added, “During that stretch our psyche wasn’t really there. But now it feels like we just got out of camp. We’re refreshed and we’re trying to win every game. We’re playing really hard, diving for loose balls and stuff like that.”
