Jordan Stark singled to right field to score Peter Kennedy for the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to lift No. 1 Monsignor Farrell (10-0) to a 5-4 win against rival St. Joseph by the Sea in Huguenot Thursday afternoon.
Kennedy drove in two runs, while Mike Murphy was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Mike DePaolo went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base and Nick Thorgersen allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits, striking out six with two walks in a complete-game victory for the Lions.
Vin Garcia went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to pace No. 4 St. Joseph by the sea (6-3).
St. Edmund Prep 9, Christ the King 0: Matt Brigando pitched a complete-game shutout for St. Edmund Prep (3-7), while Christ the King fell to 3-9.
Fordham Prep 12, Salesian 0: Jack Becker tossed a no-hitter in a run-rule shortened game, striking out seven with one walk and Kevin Brady had three hits for No. 8 Fordham Prep (7-4), while Salesian fell to 3-9.
Moore Catholic 20, St. Peter’s 0: Matt Kostalos went 4-for-4, Matt DiOrio was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Rob Ortiz was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and John Baggs belted a grand slam and had five RBIs, while Anthony LoBello pitched four innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts as No. 7 Moore Catholic (7-3) clinched a playoff berth Thursday afternoon at Richmond County Youth Complex. St. Peter’s fell to 2-8.
