St. Raymond’s is in The Bronx, but the Ravens really seem to love playing in Queens this year.
How else to explain three overtime road victories in the borough, including Friday night’s 79-78 win over Archbishop Molloy at Jack Curran Gymnasium?
The Ravens also won at Holy Cross and Christ the King.
Against the Stanners, Daniel Dingle led No. 2 St. Raymond’s (13-8, 7-2 Archdiocesan New York) with 26 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Franklyn Garcia had 17 points and Kerwin Okoro added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Ravens, who have won three of their last four games heading into Sunday’s clash with top-ranked Rice.
Chris Dorgler had 16 points for No. 5 Archbishop Molloy (12-9, 3-7 Brooklyn/Queens), but missed a tying free throw with 0.4 seconds left in overtime.
Iona Prep 53, Archbishop Stepinac 47: Luke Wooters and James Gallery scored 11 points apiece and Felix Abongo had 10 to lead Iona Prep (10-9, 8-5 A-North) to an upset win against rival Archbishop Stepinac (12-7, 7-4), which was paced by 13 points each by Conroy Baltimore, James Chillemi and Josh James in New Rochelle Friday.
Xavier 49, Spellman 42: Brendan Ferguson scored 20 points and Pat O’Grady had nine points and seven rebounds to lift Xavier (10-10, 6-6 A-Central) Friday afternoon in Manhattan. Kenny Ruiz had 11 for Cardinal Spellman (5-10, 2-8).
