Mike Marando netted a hat trick and Mike Pappalardi added a pair of goals to lead Xaverian (3-7-1) to a 5-1 victory against Archbishop Stepinac in the CHSAA Class A intersectional first round Thursday at Verrazano Narrows Complex in Brooklyn. Stepinac fell to 1-9-3.
The Clippers will meet Regis in the quarterfinals Saturday at Maritime College in The Bronx.
Xavier 2, St. Joseph by the Sea 1: Gianluca Masucci scored a goal and set up Ed Sullivan’s tally to lift Xavier (5-6-2) to a 2-1 win against St. Joseph by the Sea in the CHSAA Class A intersectional first round Wednesday at Aviator Sports Complex. Vito Coladonato scored the lone goal for St. Joseph by the Sea (3-1-3).
Salesian 2, St. Raymond’s 0: Miguel Gallardo scored twice and Nick Camacho made a pair of saves to lead defending CHSAA Class B champion Salesian (13-0-1) to a 2-0 win against St. Raymond’s in an Archdiocesan ‘B’ quarterfinal game at Cooke Field in Yonkers. St. Raymond’s fell to 3-8-3.
Christ the King 8, Cathedral Prep 0: Calogero Curucur, Chris Morales, Niko Yuvienco and Joseph Poretto scored two goals apiece for Christ the King (6-4-0), which clinched the No. 3 seed from Brooklyn/Queens for the CHSAA Class B intersectional playoffs. Cathedral Prep fell to 0-10-0.
