Apparently, Archbishop Molloy’s penchant for ties extends only to teams from the CHSAA.
Molloy defeated defending PSAL city champion Beacon, 3-2, in non-league boys soccer Friday afternoon. Sammy Carter, Denes Kostel and Gabe Maurello all had goals and Nick Matusewicz assisted on a Kostel’s goal.
Beacon, which meets archrival Martin Luther King in league play Monday, was playing without Northeastern-bound goalkeeper Max Brown. Ryan Cupolo and Jeremy Hardy both tallied for the Blue Demons against Molloy.
IVY LEAGUE
Collegiate 4, Riverdale 0: Weller Hlimonaz, Anthony Evans, James Fisch and Gabe Klieman each scored for Collegiate (7-2-0, 6-2-1). Riverdale is 1-10-0 overall and 0-10-0 in league.
